a week of favours

I’ve been asking a lot of favours recently. Mainly in regard to TTS. But it all left me feeling a bit dirty. So I thought I would offer up some favours to you lovely people in the new year.

I’m offering one week of favours, from the 11th to the 15th of January. There will be one favour on offer per day and anyone can ‘apply’ for one.

Here are the favours you can get from me:

#favour1 – I’ll make/find you an image

Maybe you need a photo of a very specific thing, an image for a birthday card, or a picture for a presentation. Let me know and I will sort it out.
Note: I will only spend up to 45 mins making/finding this image. After that, you’ll have to do with my best effort.
1 favour available.

#favour2 – I’ll blogĀ  something for you

It could be a project you’re working on, a charity or a subject matter you think deserves mentioning.
Note: My blog post will be limited to 300 words and one image of your choosing (nothing inappropriate)
1 favour available.

#favour3 – I’ll look up something for you

A fact, a stat or just to confirm a reference. If you’re too lazy to do it, I’ll do it for you.
Note: I will spend a maximum of 20 mins looking and will source a maximum of two references
2 favours available.

#favour4 – I’ll tweet something for you

Much like the blogging one, only shorter. Whatever you like, within reason (see bottom of this post)
3 favours available.

#favour5 – I’ll write something for you

A poem for a loved one, a difficult email, whatever you like.
Note: It will be a maximum of 250 words. You have one chance to get me to edit bits you don’t like.
2 favours available.

How you can apply for a favour:

You can either tweet me @andywhitlock or comment on this blog post. In either case, simply quote the #favour you want to ask me. E.g. “Hey Andy, I need a picture of a small dog painting the Eiffel Tower #favour1″
You can do this any time between now and the date of the favour. #favour1 will be carried out on the 11th January, #favour2 on the 12th and so on.

[Update: On the day of the favour, you have until 12pm to apply and should be available to agree details before I begin. Selected favours will be completed between 2pm and 6pm that day - and shared publicly unless you ask for them not to be!]

Note: I decide which favours to carry out. I won’t do them if they are offensive to anyone or a dirty promotion of something rubbish.

Hopefully this will make me feel better about asking other people for favours. Entries are open now.

Andy, can you please write me a poem about fish.

    Regards, dezza

  2. andy says:

Hi Dezza, what sort of poem are you after? Romantic, philisophical, funny? And what sort of fish?

  3. dezza says:

    Hi Andy,

Funny would be ok but not silly. Something a darkly humourous perhaps. Like Bukowski of the deep? Sea-bass may lend itself well, otherwise a Perch or Bream will be fine.

    Really appreciate it.

    Cheers, d

  4. Hey andy, i don’t twitter. But mr crackunit’s dislike of superdry intrigues me. Particularly as someone who always comes out of the shop empty handed. Could you twitter him and ask whether it’s the people who wear it or the overbrazened branding? Ta.

  5. andy says:

    @Dezza understood

@Andrew I will shortlist your request. Currently the shortlist is: you ;)

  6. neilperkin says:

Hey Andy. Happy New Year to you. I’ve been meaning to tart up the blue ‘Dead Fish’ image I use. Would be fun for someone else to have a crack at it too… #favour1

    Hi Andy,

I’d like to apply for Favor #5 please
I am launching a project in the Spring called Retouchers Retouched. I have the copy (disorganized but clear and coherent), I have the web designer, I just need a individual such as your self to pull it all the words together in the right order so it works on a web page and so people don’t think ‘….A hibbard has written this!’.
    Y know?

Please let me know If I am successful.

    Best

    Christopher

    Hi Andy,

I’d like to apply for favour number 3 please if it’s still available?

I was helping my parents clean out my great aunts house a few weeks ago and kept discovering conkers in every room. I found this quite unusual and described it to a few people only to be told on three seperate occasions: “well she must have been putting them in the corners of the room to get rid of spiders”.

    What the?!

Not sure if this is what my 97 year old aunt was up to but after making a few initial enquiries, it would seem that a surprising number of people believe that this practice actually works. It all seems very odd to me. I would appreciate it if you please look it up for me find out what on earth is going on…

    Thanks,
    Cristina
